Why do people react so nastily to the interview with Kerry Katona on This Morning?

I find it so sad that people take the opportunity to thrash her in her moment of vulnerability and misfortune. It is well know that she takes medication for bi-polar. Yes, she was behaving erratically but why the lack of empathy for a girl who has had such an unfortunate life?
